New TRAI Tariff Regulation for DTH & Cable Channels

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has issued new Regulations which are applicable to all DTH & Cable operators. From 31st Jan 2019  all existing DTH and Cable TV Packages will be discontinued . After that all subscribers need to be select their preferred channels to continue the services.

Basic Package

All subscribers needs to purchase a Basic Package of Rs. 130. This Basic Package includes 100 Free to Air (FTA) Channels . You can select any 100 SD free to air channels from the list. You can also select Free HD channels in the Basic Package but a single HD Channel will consider as 2 SD channels. So total number of channels in the Basic Package will reduce according to no of HD channels in the List.

Free to Air Channels

Free to Air Channels are normally free channels. You can select 100 Free to Air Channels with your Basic  Package without any extra cost. If you like to select more than 100 Free to Air Channels then you need to pay extra Rs. 20 for 25 Free to Air Channels.

Pay Channels

There is no Pay Channels are included in the Basic Package. So you need to pay extra for every Pay Channel you are selecting with your Subscription. Every Pay Channels are available with different prices. As per new TRAI Channel Regulation rule maximum price of a Pay Channel should be Rs. 19.

Channel Bouquets (Channel Packages)

With the Basic Package, Subscribers can select any numbers of individual channels or channel bouquet. Selecting individual Channels will cost you very high Price. Instead of selecting individual Channels you can select Channel Bouquet. All major media companies Like Star Group, Zee, Sun Network, Sony are already announced their Channel Bouquet with Different channels packages. You can select any Channel bouquet with your Basic Subscription

  1. I am a Airtel DTH customer with a 3 months pack which is valid up to 3rd March 2019.I am asked by Airtel to recharge the pack with a minimum of Rs 200.00to migrate to new pack from 1st February.Why should I recharge when there is a balance of more tha 450.00 in my account.please guide

    1. As per TRAI guidelines, your existing balance will carry forward. If you have already balance in your account then you only need to select the channels as per new TRAI tariff. Please contact Airtel to know more about your existing balance.
